Nicholas Cledon Scholarship

 

 

 

 

The Nicholas G. Cledon Scholarship exists to honor the blessed memory and faithful legacy of Nicholas Cledon by supporting Orthodox Christian theological education in service to the life of the Church. Rooted in gratitude to God and guided by the sacred responsibility of stewardship, this scholarship seeks to assist Orthodox Christians who demonstrate faith, prayer, compassion, devotion to Holy Tradition, and a sincere calling toward priestly or theological formation. In keeping with the intent of its founder and the enduring life of Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, the scholarship aims to strengthen the future of the Orthodox Church by investing in those who are preparing to serve Christ and His people with humility, fidelity, and love. The scholarship committee is tasked with awarding applicants based on the following priorities.

 

Priority #1: Candidates from Cheyenne

Priority #2: Candidates from the state of Wyoming

Priority #3: Candidates from the Metropolis of Denver

Priority #4: Candidates from throughout the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America

 

Application Requirements  

Applicants must submit a complete application with the following elements:

  1. Purpose statement and biography including:
  2. Goals & vision for future ministry related to religious education
  3. Extracurricular activities and volunteerism demonstrating impact
  4. Cumulative seminary grades – transcripts
  5. References
  6. A photo of the applicant in front of an iconostasis

The committee will evaluate complete applications using the following rubric.

 

Application Process

Applicants will be required to fill out and submit all documents using the Nicholas Cledon Scholarship online application form. The application window will open on May 1 and close on August 1. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Deadlines/Important Dates

  • May 1: Online application window opens
  • August 1: Student deadline to submit applications
  • September 1: Deadline for committee review and award recommendations to be sent to Parish Council to ratify.
  • September 15: Committee deadline to submit finalized list of Scholarship awardees to Metropolitan presiding over the Denver Metropolis for blessing.
  • September 30: Committee deadline to issue checks and inform applicants regarding status of awards.
